Reconnective Healing

Everything around us consists of energy. We consist of energy! Quantum Physicists have discovered that atoms are made up of vortices of energy that are constantly spinning and vibrating, each with its own unique energy signature. Therefore, if you think about it, we are all beings of vibration and energy spinning with our own unique signatures. During a Reconnective Healing session the practitioner will help you channel a tangible energy interaction with the reciprocal universe which is not a universe of matter, but a universe of motion, one in which the basic reality is motion, and all entities—photons, particles, atoms, fields, forces, and all forms of energy—are merely manifestations of motion. Simply put, the practitioner will be the straw that will allow you to connect with the energies that can help guide you to answering your own questions to the purpose and meaning in your life.

Sound Therapy

Sound Healing is one of the oldest healing modalities known to man and is now being reintroduced into western medicine. Doctors have been using Sound Therapy to break up gall and kidney stones for several years now and are realizing the benefits of sound healing for our organs and other health issues. Similar to how ultra sound identifies solid matter, so do sound vibrations identify blocks or dissonance in our physical body. Guided by years of training, our practitioner skillfully uses sound with an array of beautiful instruments, from crystal bowls to chimes, which correct energy blocks bringing the body back into its natural frequency, which is one of health and well being. Come and try this wonderful and life changing experience!


Crystal Reiki

A holistic alternative medicine originating in Japan and commonly called 'Palm Healing' or 'Hands on Healing', in which the Reiki Practitioner is transferring universal energy (IE, Reiki) in the form of Qi (life force), through the palms, which allows for healing. The use of crystals help to assist the energy flow and clearing of the Chakras or energy centers of the body. This is a wonderful treatment done fully clothed and a way to discover the things that are blocking the forward movement in your life!

Wellness Massage

Wellness is the state of being healthy in the body, mind, and spirit, which is the focus of Wellness Massage. Wellness Massage addresses each individuals specific needs and can involve many techniques such as Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF), cranial sacral release, compression, as well as energy techniques. It is sometimes confused with Relaxation Massage which is a generalized form of Swedish Massage focusing on long gliding strokes and is meant purely for relaxation, sometimes putting the client to sleep, or a Therapeutic Massage which addresses adhesion's and underlying knots in the body and is a contract between the client and the practitioner in which they have the shared goal of making structural changes with in the body over a period of time. Wellness Massage addresses many different issues, in a non invasion and gentle way using therapeutic tools and is specific to each individual client. 


Thai Massage

Thai Massage is an ancient healing system combining acupressure, Indian Ayurvedic principles, and assisted yoga postures. It is sometimes called the, 'lazy mans yoga', because the client is passive in the postures as the practitioner focuses on stretching and warming up the client on a traditional Thai floor mat. This treatment is done fully clothed and is great if you are someone that must sit for long periods of time.


Hot Stone Massage

A wonderful treatment for those achy sore muscles especially with the cold winter weather coming. Hot stone massage is a treatment using heated basalt stones, that's right, ancient lava rocks! The practitioner gently glides the hot stones over the body to aid in muscle tension release and relaxation.


Relaxation/Swedish Massage

These two modalities of massage are synonymous and aid the client into complete relaxation, sometimes even bringing the client into a sleep state. A very gentle massage that is appropriate for most individuals. These modalities utilize long gliding techniques to relax the nervous system, aid lymphatic flow, improve the circulatory system, and aid in digestion.

Women's Circle

In circle we gather to share, reflect, and connect with each other in celebration of our feminine essence. At Common Roots we facilitate a safe and sacred space where all women are welcome to be unapologetic-ally themselves! Beautiful ceremony and rituals are created around themes of community, empowerment, sisterhood, self love, self care, healing, and feminine courage. Come and join us for Full and New Moon Circles each month!


New Moon Circle

In the New Moon Circle we focus on new beginnings and things we wish to manifest in our lives. We will focus on a variety of activities such as guided meditation, conversation, and reflection to practice mindful listening and awareness in our lives.


Full Moon Circle

In Full Moon Circle we focus on the things in our lives that have manifested or already have come to fruition, or are about to. We also focus on letting go of the things that do not serve us anymore. Through art, music and ritual we will explore the feminine side of our power!


Conscious Touch

This form of holistic therapy uses the nurturing power of touch, holding space for the individual, and moving energy with breath and full presence. This treatment is a blend of over 25 years of training with many different modalities and is specific for each person, depending on their needs. Treatments may include any combination of the following: soft tissue massage, Angelic Reiki, lymphatic work, meditation, breath work, stretching and more. This treatment is a safe place for anyone experiencing migraines, symptoms of PTSD, undergoing certain medical treatments, recovering from injuries and is very effective for those going through chemotherapy. Illness can be emotionally trying, if you are in need of support in body, mind or spirit, know that this modality helps you rest deeply into a state of peace.

YOGA

Hatha Yoga

A yoga system of physical exercises focusing on the 'asanas' or postures in yoga, and breath control which is known as 'pranayama'. This modality of yoga is great for beginners as well as seasoned practitioners because everyone works at their own pace and ability level, as the instructor shows you different pose modifications.


Vinyasa Yoga

Vinyasa is a stand alone style of yoga characterized by stringing postures together so  you move from one to another, seamlessly, using breath control through 'Pranayama'. Sometimes referred to as “flow yoga", this type of yoga is for someone looking to sweat a little and gain some cardiovascular endurance along the way!



Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga with postures, or 'asanas', that are held for longer periods of time—for beginners, it may range from 45 seconds to two minutes; more advanced practitioners may stay in one asana for five minutes or more.This is a very modifiable style of yoga and appropriate for all levels as well as being excellent for pain management, stress, and relaxation.

Bhakti Yoga

Bhakti Yoga is one of the four main yogic paths to enlightenment. Bhakti means “devotion” or “love” and this path contains various practices to unite the practitioner with the Divine, whatever you consider that to be for you. Bhakti Yoga is considered the easiest yogic path to master and the most direct method to experience the unity of mind, body and spirit. While Hatha Yoga requires a strong and flexible body, Raja Yoga requires a disciplined and concentrated mind, and Jnana Yoga requires a keen intellect, the only requirement for Bhakti Yoga is an open, loving heart. Bhakti Yoga complements other paths of yoga as well, and it is said that jnana (knowledge or wisdom) will dawn by itself when you engage in the devotional practices of Bhakti Yoga.

Healing Laughter

Healing Laughter, also referred to as Laughter Yoga (Hasyayoga) is a practice involving prolonged voluntary laughter. Healing Laughter Yoga is based on the belief that voluntary laughter provides the same physiological and psychological benefits as spontaneous laughter, releasing the positive 'feel good' hormones into your body. Healing Laughter Yoga is not a meditation or quiet experience, get ready to make some noise as you are guided through a variety different exercises that increase the use of your diaphragm and focus on breath and sound to release those happy hormones! Done in a group setting this class is fun and appropriate for all!

How Our Services Work

Our complimentary service calendar below is on a first come first serve basis and a opportunity for you to sample a wide array of amazing holistic services offered by experienced and certified independent holistic therapists. Offerings range from a selection of Yoga such as Yin, Vinyasa, Thai, Bhkati, and Hatha, to energy healing modalities like Sound Therapy and Wellness Massage. Try something fun like an art class, lecture or meditation class that are offered periodically. We also offer Compassion Programs like the 'Healing Yourself Naturally Program', which is an opportunity to have an individualized wellness program designed specifically to suit your needs.  Please check out the selection of services and classes to see what you would like to try. If you are attending a class just show up a couple of minutes before class is slotted to start, if it is a 1:1 treatment like massage, make sure you arrive early to be seen as there are a limited number of appointments on our free calendar. Please enter our building on the 725 30th Street side, (the H street side door is always locked). We are on the bottom floor in suite #103. There may be a service already in progress, so just have a seat and someone will be with you shortly. Once you experience your treatment you have the option to set up a regular therapy session with your provider for a future date at their rate for services or not! The calendar is always FREE because we believe everyone can use a little wellness and compassion in their day!
